What are the different types of filtration technologies?

Different homes have different needs. We generally categorize systems into three levels:

  • RO (Reverse Osmosis): The “Gold Standard.” It uses a semi-permeable membrane to remove up to 99% of all dissolved solids, including heavy metals and fluoride.
  • UF (Ultra-Filtration): Uses a hollow fiber membrane to block bacteria and viruses while keeping natural minerals in the water. It works without needing a storage tank or electricity.
  • 3-Stage (PP-CB-CTO): A popular physical setup using a PP (Polypropylene) sediment filter for dirt/rust, a CB (Carbon Block) for chemicals, and a CTO (Chlorine, Taste, and Odor) filter to polish the flavor.
Can a purifier remove 100% of all contaminants?

While “100%” is a high bar for any scientific process, premium systems (especially Reverse Osmosis) come incredibly close, removing up to 99.9% of targeted impurities. A well-maintained system effectively eliminates the risks of lead, arsenic, nitrates, and PFAS, ensuring your water is as pure as modern technology allows.

Does filtered water taste different than tap water?

How often should I replace the filters?
